Sage Academy is pleased to present a two-part educational webinar series on Foundations of Exodontia, designed to support dentists in developing safe, confident, and evidence-based approaches to dental extractions. This webinar series provides a structured overview of foundation-level exodontia, combining essential principles with practical guidance on risk assessment, case selection, and the management of complications commonly encountered in clinical practice. The sessions are delivered by experienced clinicians and are suitable for dentists at different stages of their professional journey.

Part 1: Principles of Exodontia

Part 2: Management of Complications in Foundation Exodontia

This session builds on the foundational principles by
exploring common complications associated with exodontia and how they can be
anticipated, prevented, and safely managed. The session also highlights the
importance of appropriate case selection, referral pathways, and patient safety.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this webinar series, delegates will be able
to:- Understand
the core principles of exodontia and their application in everyday
clinical practice
- Assess
case complexity using medical history, social factors, clinical
examination, and radiographic findings
- Identify
indications and contraindications for dental extractions
- Interpret
radiographs to recognise root morphology, bone quality, and proximity to
vital structures
- Understand
when and why CBCT imaging and coronectomy may be indicated
- Recognise
common complications associated with foundation-level exodontia, including
nerve injury and oro-antral communication
- Apply
strategies to prevent complications through effective assessment,
planning, and technique selection
- Appreciate
the importance of case selection, consent, and timely referral in ensuring
patient safety

Her passion lies in dental education, reflected in her roles as an Honorary Lecturer on the Postgraduate Conscious Sedation Diploma Course at UCL and as an approved Dental Foundation Trainer.
